Salman was a late bloomer into fitness. In his early 20’s, a friend of his asked him to do a marathon for charity, and after living a mostly sedentary lifestyle, he trained consistently for 3 months and finished his first marathon successfully. After multiple minor injuries from continuous running, he transitioned to competing in triathlons, from the Sprint to Ironman level. CrossFit was originally a source of ‘cross-training,’ but soon he learned that constantly varied movements at high intensity provided the stimulus that allowed him to perform in triathlons at comparable levels, without the hours solitary, arduous training, once thought mandatory for triathlons. Aside from having the cardiovascular and endurance capability to compete in triathlons, with utilizing the CrossFit modality, his strength, mobility, and gymnastics skills have significantly increased. He credits one of the major contributors to these improvements is having coaches and a community. He firmly believes the old adage, ‘As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.’ He is now a coach and the Master’s Division Liaison at Reinvented CrossFit. His main drive is to support athletes at all levels to be the best version of themselves in all aspect their lives.
